Talent Galore

How great is our God to give us such a gorgeous week. We are having fun, but many are getting tired and ready to see you all again!

The talent show had some amazing music, skits and other indescribable bits- (but not any less skillful). I wish my batteries wouldn't have died right before it started! I could have shown you some piano virtuosos, waterfall engineers, dancers, the entire company from American Idol, including security guards, ping pong players with an unbelievable finish and a few creative human tricks thrown in.

Looking forward to seeing the sweet reunions tomorrow . . .

The Amazing Race

Another gorgeous day at Camp - the kids are getting tan, mosquito bitten, tired, making new friends and having a blast. They are also really in God's element - flock of over 20 pelicans on the lake all day today, two turtles supposedly laying eggs, loons singing during our campfire. Our activities and discussions centered on how God's light shines even when we doubt. Tonight we had an Amazing Race all through the camp. The kids worked in their groups to solve problems, answer Bible trivia, jump a rope, keep a volleyball up for 20 volleys, shoot some hoops, solve some charades all with the final goal of collecting all the words to a Bible verse. Tomorrow we'll be reading from Luke 10:38-42, where Mary sits at Jesus feet and Martha hustles and bustles to make a meal for Jesus. We'll talk about how God's light shines, even when we're distracted.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Tonight the kids played a game called "Eagle's Eggs". Over 100 people on a field trying to capture each others "eggs" with out getting caught. The competition began by getting their faces to reflect their team colors.

To watch then out there, collaborating with their team mates, sneaking passed the other team, stealing the eggs and getting them back . . . lots of talents in a game like that. Everyone had an area where they were strong. God has certainly gifted each of them uniquely. It makes me wonder what God is planning for these great, gifted kids. I'm sure having fun watching Him working in and through your kids.

Campfire was great as we reflected on the day and the lessons we had learned about Daniel and what he faced in the lion's den. Sometimes we face scary things, too. But God is always with us. The theme for the week is "The Light Sines in the Darkness." Tomorrow we'll read about when Jesus appeared to Thomas and the rest of the guys in the upper room. John 20:19-31.
Goodnight! I'll post again tomorrow!
